Sarah Hutchinson is a product designer interested in societal change. She graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands, founded Loneeaters.com and is a designer at the tech startup Mindiply.
She wants to raise issues, start discussions and design objects that help us meet the challenges of the 21st century. She believes design can change the way we live and hopes to be a force for good in the world.
She enjoys taking a broad conceptual look at societal issues as the starting point of her design, often researching the topic on a historical or sociological level. Talking and writing about an issue isn't enough though. It's very important to her to get active, testing out theories, seeing what's possible in the physical world and letting practical experiments turn into product ideas.
While designing she's constantly problem solving and loves coming up with workable systems. She's at home in the ceramic, wood and textiles workshop, subtly pushes the limits of the materials, and is always trying to invent something new.
